Just moved to DC, Virginia side
Hey all, just moved to DC on the Virginia side, Del Ray area. Looking to find a local gun store in the area that isn't 25 miles outside the beltway. Got a birthday coming up and the better half has given me $500 to find something, so I was thinking to a 10/22 or m&p 22 rifle. I've got a 22 suppressor that should be ready in sept according to the atf. My first preference would be to find a local place that carries such things. My second preference would be to find an ffl and order from gunbroker. Again, I'm a few miles south of the pentagon and driving to Stafford or Richmond isn't desirable. Recommendations?

Here to do work of a bureaucratic nature. I haven't had a chance to check out any ranges yet. I hear the NRA range is difficult in some regards...

Del Ray in Alexanderia is not DC. Boy you've insulted Virginians big time now.
Nova Armament in Herndon and I believe there is Nova Firearms in Falls Church. Loudon Guns in Leesburg.

Range:
Sharpshooter's in Lorton, about 20 min. south of Alex. Also is gun shop.
Good Luck

Thanks for all the vectors. I apologize for posting in the DC/Maryland forum and lumping Virginia in the same crowd. I feel the same way about Michigan, as a native Ohioan as you do about your neighbors. Naming the Virginia forum "glockers of the old dominion" didn't immediately pop out! It would be like calling the Ohio forum the "Buckeye" forum. I'll know where to post in the future. That being said, I chose to live in Virginia for more than a few reasons. Only been here a month, but I like the thought of living in the home state of Washington and Jefferson. We already like the cheesetique, and dairy godmother. If you haven't tried pork barrel there on the corner, you should try that. He's putting out a great meal. The sausage is the best I've ever had, and I lived in the south for a while. Thai Peppers is pretty good too. Thank you again for all the recommendations. If anyone knows of a 10/22 around here with a threaded barrel, I'm in the market.

Blue Ridge Arsenal in Chantilly. I forget the name of the one in Falls Church on rt.7
Sharp Shooters in Lorton. Loudoun Guns in Leesburg. Manassas has a couple I believe 1 is near or in Oldtown Manassas. It is very nice. I have been to all of them but the one in Falls Church I hear their prices are great. I live in Alexandria but go to Blueridge a lot. My wife likes it because Its very clean and they have good ventilation on their ranges and they like kids. My two daughters shoot. They are 9 & 11 and they get free ice cream so that's a bonus for them.
