New Kimber Gold Combat
I just ordered the Stainless Gold Combat. I have been debating between it and the Stainless TRP. I have shot the TRP before, but have not shot the Combat. I have never heard anything bad about the Kimber. I hope I made the right choice. Who's got a Combat and what do you think about it? Would really like to hear from someone who has both. Thanks.

I had an older GC Stainless. Great gun. Sold it to a friend. He won't sell it back. If I owned it again, I'd have it refinished with teflon (or something similar) because I HATE Kimber's stainless finish-corrosion prone. Only nice thing about it would be if it gets too rusty, just bead blast it and put it back together.
IIRC the new ones are bull barrels? Let us know how this one shoots.

Shot one at the range I go too.. slide to frame fit was very good and was better than the lower end kimbers. The sights where easy to pick up and it was very accurate at 25 meters. Felt great in my hands and I am not a kimber lover or do I hate them.. You can tell Kimber spent more time on this model just by the slide to frame fit and how well it groups at 25 yards. I bet you will like it.

Even one of the owners of the Gun Shop who is not a big Kimber fan liked it......

Where have you been living under a rock. Kimber gets dogged on more than any other gun company that I know of. I really like Kimbers and the two I've owned were both very accurate and reliable. That doesn't change how many times I have heard from owners that needed to send their Kimbers back multiple times to get them to run right. If I had a newer Kimber that wasn't reliable the very last thing I would do is send it back to Yonkers.

I like the Gold Combat from what I have seen of it in press and on the net. Seems like a heck of a gun. A nice big article in the new Combat Handguns magazine on the Gold Combat you might want to check that out. I really like the way they beveled the bottom sides of the slide, very nice. Congrats.

 Come on, really?
Seriously, I like the high end Kimbers quite a bit, but they get killed on this forum. The problem is that still use the same MIM parts as the Custom II, but cost over double the price. All that said, I think they're great shooters. While my Les Baer Concept V can be had for the same price, I shoot my Super Match better. However, the Baer has higher quality small parts.
Anyway, I don't own a Gold Combat, but here's my Super Match and my TRP for comparison. The Super Match is Kimber's top of the line 1911 and I love it.
Anyway, congrats on the Gold Combat. I think you'll enjoy it.

I meant that I had never heard anything bad about that particular Kimber. I've heard all the regular BS Kimber bashing many times. I've always heard nothing but praise for the Gold Combat. I would compare it to a TRP, but maybe putting just a step above the TRP.

Well, the GC is a series II Kimber and pretty much the same gun as the Super Match, but with night sights added and the accuracy guarantee subtracted.
The finish and grips are different as well.

I like mine.
Top-notch accuracy a great trigger and feels just right in my hand.
No problems of any kind with it.

For some reason that doesn't surprise me in the least.
