Scored a Valor to go with my CBOB!

I've had my Dan Wesson CBOB for several months now, and ABSOLUTELY love it, but all along I've been lusting over a DW Valor, or maybe even completing the trifecta with a DW Valor and DW CCO. Well, last weekend I was at my local gun shop and saw a used Valor in the rack. I was in a rush and tried to avoid spending $, so I left and thought about it all weekend. On Monday, I couldn't resist and told myself if they still had it, I had to buy it. Lo and behold, it still sat there waiting for me, so I traded my Sig 229 and $800 and walked away with it.

It's a 2008 model (#108), with VZ slim tiger stripe double diamond G10 grips. Came with what appear to be Tripp Research magazines, and was in absolutely perfect condition.

I ordered the VZ slim black desert sand double diamond grips that the 09s came with, because I really like that look for some reason, and then it'll be good to go!

I can't wait to go out and shoot it, I'm super impressed with it so far, the smoothness, tightness, and feel of the trigger, etc is just superb.

Soon as my new grips come in (for my Valor and CBOB) I'll post some new pictures!

I know the 2010s will be better, but they'll also be more expensive and hard to come by (plus I'm getting married this year and purchases of this magnitude will be much harder to come by). This is the first Valor I've ever seen first person and I didn't want to waste an opportunity to pick it up.

Congrats on the Valor! Its a great 1911.

That said, $800 and a Sig P229 seems a bit steep for a used Valor.

Agreed, I don't think it's exactly cheap, but new Valors are going for $1500-1600 + shipping and transfer fees on the internet, and frankly the 229 was an impulse buy for me several months ago - I never really got into it and only ran one mag through it (No Sig will compare to my German 220!), so... I'm satisfied with the transaction.

I really liked your Valor vs TRP write up from the past and was part of what convinced me I needed one in my safe along with my CBOB.

Now I just need to go out and shoot them - sucks that it's only like 10 degrees here though.

Cool.

Yeah, I guess Valor prices have gone up quite a bit. Supply and demand doesn't help either.

That's about a 10% increase. That should flatten demand a bit to production equalibrium point.

This was the asking price for a 2008 model. Has nothing at all to do with new model production or pricing. just someone's Gunbroker price. If I list my Glock 19 for $850.00 does that flatten demand? NIB 2009 Valors go for $1350.00. There are five listed for sale on the first page of the locator sticky at 1911Forum.

Very nice pistol. You will love it. Most of the differences between 08 and 09 are cosmetic anyway. Now the 2010s will have a few upgrades. The stainless one will be very nice at about the same price as the 09 black one.

A year ago, NIB Valors were going for $1,350, if you could find one. There was a supply shortage due to the relatively low price in comparison to other 1911s of similar feature/functionality and value.

After three months of searching, including using Bac's connections, I got fed up and to contacted Dan Wesson directly. I asked Dan Wesson to build a custom bobtailed Valor, with an ambi safety, custom sights and custom grips.

Nine months later, I received my custom Valor and am very pleased with the results.

Okay, but the pictures are crap... glare all over the place... I'll shoot some shots outside in natural light if the weather ever warms up...

These following two shots are meant to illustrate the Nill-esque palm swell that I requested. As it turned out, this is the most ergonomically comfortable of the 14 pistols I own.
