GAP Magazines

Do they make a plus 2 magazine extension for the GAP's, and if so have they proven to be reliable?

Too bad they don't offer a 30 round mag, with the big bore 45 that would be intimidating!!

Glocks makes "+" extension, but it only adds 1. It used to be marked +2, but on .45GAP and .40SW it only adds 1, while the 9mm adds 2. They are super reliable. Also, any extension that Pearce makes for the 9mm, will fit on the .40sw and .45GAP mags, so they may make a larger extension.

What Glock .45gap do you have? I use a G37 mag with A&G collar in my G39.

tampashooters is right, I have extension on 2 mags for the G-39 and it only adds one extra round. Here is a link to glockparts if you need to order one. I just shot 100 rnds with the + extensions and it works perfectly.

I have the Glock 37, was thinking that adding another round or two capacity would be nice.

Thanks for the replies!

I use Glock factory #7151 bases on my G37 magazines which allow for a tight 11th round.

I use +2's on full-size mags as my spare for all my mid-size Glocks (17 for 19, 31 for 32, 37 for 38) and they work GREAT. This gives 19 extra rounds for my G19, 16 (or a tight 17) for the G32, and 11 for the G38.

It also gives a little more to get a hold of when I reach back for the spare from my mag carrier and adds some extra length to grab when carrying the spare in the vertical pocket of a pair of cargo or carpenter pants / shorts. Just my $0.02.

Officer's Match, who I just got my G38 from, says that he has been able to routinely fit 9 rounds into the standard mags. I am thinking that if I end up using the G38 as a duty pistol, I may add the extended Glock baseplates to my duty mags. 10 rounds of GAP sounds very nice to me. Before doing this though, I will run a bunch of ammo through, and try a whole lot of full speed reloading drills to make sure there are no issues with function or with the baseplates stripping off during reloads.

I have also found that I can get 9 rds into the standard mags, some easier than others, but am not sure what that would do to mag spring tension over time or if it would affect reliability. Not enough data to tell yet and, as such, I stick with 8 for consistency. As always, YMMV.

You're probably right, G8Kpr, I just got a little carried away 8 rounds of .45 is nothing to sneeze at. I started my cop career carrying a revolver with 6 rounds and 12 more in speedloaders, so this is not bad at all.

sarge, copied and pasted below is part of my reply from another post over in Genral Glocking I just replied to last night about a guy trying to decide between a G23 and a G38. Once again, the rediculous 'capacity argument' came up. Are you kidding me?! When eveyone wanted hi-cap nines, the 45 crowd accused them of 'spraying and praying', and now, whenever anyone considers a <10 rd mag capacity (or worse yet, using a ban era 10 rd mag), everyone shudders at the horror of such 'restricted ammo supply'. Which one is it?

Read on for your entertainment:
"And, oh yeah, I love the capacity argument. 7+0 (condition 3) or 6+1 or 7+1 (condition 1 or 2) was plenty for the first 70 years of the 1911's life until someone invented a viable 8 rd mag. And even now, those 'in the know' will tell you the first thing to do if you have feeding problems with a 1911 is to switch to 7 rd Wilson mags and see if that fixes it - if not, you got some gun smithing costs in your future.

I carry 7+1 in my G38 with a G37 mag with a +2 on it for a spare (can only get +1 with 45 cal so it gives me 11 extra when the guns runs dry). If more than 3 revolver loads of good SD ammo doesn't fix my problem, not having enough ammo was NOT my tactical error. How many rounds and reloads do you think you're going to go through in a real life SD scenario anyway? You put 30 odd rounds downrange in any kind of populated area 'spraying and praying' and you're going to die broke, and posibly in prison. The biggest reason I carry a spare mag is because that's the first mechanical thing to probably go bad, and the quickest fix to get your blaster running again in a anti-social encouter. Think about it."

Cheers,
G8Kpr

I carry a G-39 daily and do not worry about capacity! Shot placement is the key anyways!

I use the #7151 base on my G37 mags so I can get 10 rounds in the mag without using a crowbar. I don't try to get an extra round in, just wanted to be able to get the 10 that Glock said would fit in that mag.

i just purchased a pearce mag extension that adds one round for my g37. what i discovered right off is that i was able to load all 11 rounds using the extension much easier than i was able to load the normal 10 rounds in the standard mag. i haven't been to the range yet but i've loaded and unloaded the mag and all 11 rounds continue to go in with ease.
