Anyone waiting on primers?.
Hate to rehash an old subject, but I just wanted to ask if anyone
has any new info. on primer availability.
I placed an order with Powder Valley back in early April for a few
thousand small and large pistol primers and 2 lb's of 231.
Nothing yet.
Contacted them back in Oct. and they told me my order was still
active, just did not know when it would be filled.
No choice but to wait.

Wow back in April? Bummer. Who did you piss off there?
I ordered a bunch of primers (LR, 223, SP) and two kegs of powder back 12.21.09 and got it a week later. You probably ordered some exotic stuff.

My backorder is at grafs, but I'm waiting on a bunch of CCI LP on order since May.

Same here, my back order is still from May - for CCI SP/ LP - but all my Federal backorders already came. I guess we have to wait more.

Has payment already gone through? If not, I'd cancel the orders as there are other sources for those items who have them in stock.

Ordered 5K WLP's from PV on 10/26/09 and was E-mailed an invoice today showing shipped.
I was at the local Gander Mtn. last week and they had CCI large and small pistol primers.
$49.00/K.
Gouge.
No Thanks.

I wouldn't cancel the backorders. I'd order from some other place that has them in stock and keep the backorders.
Primers keep for a long time, and this shortage illustrates nicely that there's a significant advantage to having more on hand than you might need immediately.

Pretty much all sizes are in stock around here but not necessarily the brand you may want. I took a chance on Wolf and picked up some Winchester. Usually I use CCI and I've found those but not in all sizes. The goal......buy whatever quantity of reloading components as my wife will let me get away with. I don't trust the supply or the government (present administration for sure!). Stuff on back order stays on back order!

All I have to do is drive 10 miles and get all the primers I need. Unfortunately that usually means 1k as they want $40 for them. It's by far the largest reloading cost, even over my cast boolits.

Sportsman's Warehouse is almost fully stocked lately around here @ $29-$31/K. That's not horrible with no shipping or hazmat.
Getting those shelves filled back up with powder and boolits too.

I can buy all the federal I want locally for $34.00 a thousand. But I still have 10 K on a shelf so I am good.

I ordered 5k of each SP, LP and SR CCI from Grafs on May 1st, along with some Varget and 4198. Only thing that has shipped was SR about a week ago.

I have the exact same experience as the OP. Ordered in April, called in October, and told the same thing.
