I'm thinking of getting a Saiga 12 (when I get the extra $) and doing a very basic pistol grip conversion,nothing fancy. While I much prefer a Warsaw stock on my SGL rifle, I'm trying to determine whether one of those would be too short on a Saiga 12 due to the increased recoil. I would also be adding a recoil pad that would add 1" to the length.

I prefer to stick with an AK style fixed stock,don't really care for the AR style adjustable kind,not on an AK anyway.A side folder would be nice,but those can get kinda pricey and I wasn't looking to spend that much.I saw some of the Tapco side folders that were inexpensive,but they didn't look like they were very well made. Suggestions ?

I fired hundreds of shells through 3 different saiga 12 shotguns.
I used a warsaw pact on my 19 inch converted and if I had to do it over again I would want the best recoil pad available and the most solid stock. The grenade launching recoil pad that is meant to be used on a standard AK buttstock did not work well enough for me. I would want the Tromix stock with the limbsaver pad.

I just picked up a Saiga 12 at the fun show this past weekend. Took it out yeaterday and fired 50 rounds of 2 3/4 slugs. Even wiht the cheep stock and no Recoil pad it was fine. Switched to the 3 inch and Oh Boy that was too much. I was also thinking of adding the extra recoil pad when converting but I see no need to shoot anything over 2 3/4 and the standard shold be fine. Not sure on lenght yet but I would add the PG and VG so the shorter stock will be fine for me

I went with the Warsaw length on my 12 in case I needed to add a recoil pad, which I did as the steel baseplate on the K-var stock was pretty brutal. If I would have went with the Nato length, I think it would have ended up looking too long after adding a recoil pad.
