It's been 85 days...
Been 85 days since I sent my CWP application off. The wait is unbearable. Waiting until I get it to order a good holster. I can't believe it takes all of 90 days to get them.
Friend told me he had a friend who got it back in 3 weeks. I called BS on that.

Depending on the holster, you might have to wait 3 months or more. Why wait to order it?

Ordering a Crossbreed. They give you the free 2 week trial. Figured I want as much time in the saddle as possible during those 2 weeks.
Well, 86 days and no permit.

Well go ahead and shoot down my argument with sound reasoning. See if I care.

So it's been 95 days... I called SLED and they said they never received my application!!! Had to go to my bank because I mailed a certified check, it was never cashed. So after an hour, since no one had ever done a canceled certified check, I have a new certified check. Now it's off to Charleston County Detention Center to get new fingerprints. Oh, I am sooo pissed! It's amazing that the US Post Office doesn't have to take responsibility for any lost mail. Now I have wait another 90 days....
So, should I trust the Post Office to send this again? It would definitely be certified mail this time!! If I lived any closer to Columbia, I would just hand deliver the damn thing.

I'd either do Post Office with a return/receipt, or bite the bullet for FedEx. Either way, go with a 2 day delivery.
I'm so sorry to hear this. Sounds about the way my luck is running, too.

From your other thread. In Wake County you must go down in person to the Wake County Sheriffs Office, 2nd floor. Get finger printed, $15 then fill in the permit, two offices down. Show your Drivers Lic and pay the $80 fee. http://www.wakegov.com/sheriff/citiz...ed_permits.htm

Eagle- You're spot on with your process. When my co-worker and I went in Jan. 2009 to get a couple of permits to purchase handguns, we waiting in line for about 5 minutes to submit the application and pay our 10 dollars each. During that time in line, we saw 8 people stop to pick up their CCW permits. It was eye opening. That office was doing a bangup business.
The only thing that bugs me is that the forms for the permits and CCW have to be filled out in the office. If they were online, people could print them out and fill them out before going.
I'm excited, getting more excited.

The thing that annoyed me last time I was there was that they wouldn't laminate my change of address. They wanted me to pay for a 'lost card' (significantly more money) to get a single laminated card with my new address, instead of keeping my old card and having to carry around a folded piece of paper for another three years.
