I really like that Iver Johnson, I think that will be my next 1911. On the flipside that STI GI would be a go if they didn't have to post GI on the side. Also might have to pickup the GI enhanced with the beavertail, I normally hate guns with beavertails, but most also have FCS, but that Para looks good.

How could you leave out this beauty? Can there be any doubt that Nighthawk Custom has gone commercial?

The STI GI speaks to me.
I wonder where it's made.

Didn't Colt play with making a DA 1911 before?
The Colt Double Eagle comes to mind.

For the most part there isn't much on that site that does anything for me.
One gun I wish someone would make it a match grade GI gun that is a production gun.
Something like a SA Milspec, but with hand fitted bushing, barrel, and slide.

+1

I would love a nice clean 1911 with a crisp trigger, sights like the Mil Spec or the current Colts and a basic accurizing job from the factory. Polished and blued would be icing, but I could live with plain.

It actually has lines similar to the old Double Eagle. The new model looks better, but you can clearly see the similarities.

except for the Spartan and the Texican.
The GI is probably an Armscor, which is where the Spartan is made.

STI International, Inc. manufactures all of its own components except pins, springs, scopes, and our outsourced firearms, the Spartan and the Texican.

I highly doubt STI will build the GI model. It will probably be made in the Philippines.

I handled the new Colt double action at SHOT. It is dimensionally much closer to a 1911 than the Double Eagle, which is good. The trigger pull was pretty long and heavy though. It was smooth, but was too long and heavy.

For some reason, that new Brown doesn't do it for me.

I'd take it without the roll mark or front serrations.
