Here is my well-worn Colt 1911 made in 1918.

I also have the original box of ammo from WWII. Hopefully, when I take some pics, I can find the ammo, too.

It still shoots really well with ball ammo. Every once in a while I take her out and run some ammo through. I made sure to install a Wilson Combat shock buffer to protect the frame from cracking. The steel is a little softer than new guns and the steel hardening processes were a little lax during wartime demand.
