TLR-1 or TLR-3?
I am looking to get a tac light for my 19. I really like the Streamlight models as they are easy on the wallet. What are the big differences in these two lights. I know that on is aluminum and one is plastic. In addition, I think they both use the same bulb. Is there a huge difference in light output as the (1) uses 3 batteries and the (3) uses 1. Much thanks for the help.

I don't have any experience with a TLR-3 but I carry a TLR-1 for duty every day. Its bright, durable, and it was less than $100.
I'm also pretty sure my TLR-1 uses 2 batteries.

No experience with the TLR-1, but I have a TLR-3 on my 21SF. I really like that it doesn't stick out past the end of the barrel. The TLR-1 seems huge to me.
Here's a pic-

I have had both, I just don't like that they screw on, and don't have quick release levers.
The TLR-1 is nice, but heavier than the TLR-3, and they are both super bright.

The TLR-3 does not fit the G19 very well. Do a search and find the thread(s) on the subject.
I've got one on my G19 and I had to take the dremmel to it to make it fit (almost) right...

How large is the gap between your trigger guard and the paddle switch for the light?

Sorry, I never paid attention, Only had it for a day or two then sold it because I didn't like the screw on. I'd rather have the quick release.

What I discovered, and what one can find in other poster's reports, is that the the TLR-3 won't slide back far enough to position the paddle switch properly over the trigger guard.
I modified one of the "keys" that comes with the light and then removed a bit of the mounting "hooks" that go over the rail on the gun. This allowed the TLR-3 to go back far enough to be functional, but still not be properly positioned.
I'm going to have another go with the dremmel and fabricate a new "key" to finish the installation some time soon. When I do, I will post before and after pictures...

I took my TLR-3 out of the box and easily installed it on a G17 and it fits and works properly.

He probably does not want a laser along with the light.

I just ordered a TLR-3... I have read many good reviews and figured I'd give it a try on my 22... I will post pics and a review when it arrives.

I use a TLR-1 and love it. You cant believe how bright it is, especially for such a small light. I have never used a TLR-3.
