Aguila Minishells
Has anyone used the little Minishells (12 guage) by Aguila? The dude at the GS said they work in pump guns but not autos. Anyone out there know something?

I have not tried them as I have heard from reliable people that they don't work well in the 870 and that is all I have in pumps.
I will certainly watch this thread to see what others have found out about them.

They are moving really slow like 500fps iirc.

Several threads have been started on the subject.
The only shotguns that are reported reliable are the Winchester 1400, Aguila's own pump shotgun and a semi auto shotgun made in South Africa that has a magazine in the pistol grip.

The ones I have are black, with a mix of 4 #1 Buck and 7 #4 Buck, marked with 19g (powder?) and 293g (weight?)

must be gun specific, I've got a winchester 1300 and they don't feed well in mine.

They don't run well in my Mossberg 500 at all. I got a bunch of them really cheap so I've been thinking about buying a cheap single or double just so I have something to shoot them out of.

I have a win 1300 specificly to play with the mini shells. they work pretty well for me. POI at 25 yards is the same as a full size slug. you can modify the lift gate on a 870 and 590/500 to allow you to use the mini shells. but out of the box, the 870 and 590/500 due have issues with the mini shells.
nice thing about the mini shells, it makes shooting a folding stock on a shotgun comfortable.

Great idea, desertfox. I wonder if a little "catch" could be added to the lift gate so the shell doesn't go all the way back and have trouble feeding, at the same time being able to go to the top when the round is chambered.

when the mini shells first came out, I saw pictures of people modifying there lift gates. basicly making the solid like on the 1300 and some even putting a small lip to hold the mini shell at the front of the lift gate. might have to play with it so it is not to high and catches the bolt, or creat kind of a ramp bihnd the lip to keep the bolt from catching. just remember, you would have to swap out lift gates to play with normal ammo unless you hand feed rounds.
I always wanted to get one of the pumps design specificly for this round. imagine a pump stroke the it half the distance of normal........and a shorter receiver........I like the idea of this shell.....and not bad for home defense. I have a full size #4 buck in the chamber followed buy 8 of the buck shots then a few slugs at the end. think all total with a round in the chamber, the capacity is like 14 rounds.

Yup, 14 ROUNDS OF 12 Guage!! But I haven't heard much good about the Aguila gun. But, any gun can go to the shop. It never hurts to have a good "platform" to work with. I used to load 000B-Slug-000B-Slug etc. for the longest time. Flechettes and flares on the saddle if needed.

Perhaps an American-made SBS chambered in it, or a Serbu-type AOW. It could hold 4+1, right?
