Good price/gun?

I'm looking at buying an all black S&W MP15 from someone for 950 dollars and it includes the following:

- Pmag
- 2 GI mags
- 5 round mag
- 100 rounds of ammo.

Picture of the rifle:

Do you think this is a good deal?

That looks about what they go for new, so depending on how used it is, it may be a good deal.

I love the S&W M&P15's though, just purchased one myself.

Not a bad deal at all imho. I paid a little more than that for one with 2Pmags and 100rds new last week, but I got LE pricing.

The ammo is whatever... 100 rounds is maybe $35 ($7 per 20 rounds) depending on the brand. The mags are worthless... Pmag new is $15 max, GI mags are $10 each new, and the 5 rounder you can use as a paperweight or throw it at the bad guy if you want a silent kill.

The new SW MP15 is not that expensive to begin with. The local dealer here has them for $930 for the regular A2 carbine and $950 for the flat top carbine.

In other words, you are paying full boat on the rifle and saving sales tax and getting $35 of ammo and $35 worth of mags (new value) with it.

I probably wouldn't do it at that price... just not enough incentive to make it a great deal yet. For me to do it with those minimal included items would mean I would have to get the whole rife package at $800 to make it even worthwhile.

This is a used rifle?

I noticed that the rifle in the picture also has a Magpul MOE hand guard and a BUIS. these items add a little to the value, that said I agree with Lawman. Demand for AR's seems to have peaked and prices on new EBR's have started to drop. Look around, there are some good deals out there.

The $950 flat top tactical MP15 rifle already has a BUIS. As for the MOE handguard, my thinking is that aftermarket parts, unless it's what you would have done yourself and something that you want, has a zero value.

Handguards, stocks, trigger guard, grip, etc. on an AR doesn't quite enhance its performance as much as people think it does. Rails are useful on handguards, but again, some people don't want to add the VFG or the weight and rather have the regular handguard. Most of it is aesthetics and bragging rights on who has more tacticool parts.

Now, give me a good trigger group and BCG, and we're cookin'!

Oh... don't forget, $950 is Southern California price where everything cost more just for the hell of it.

By the way... I like the MOE handguard and it is something that I want. I'd rather a complete rail upper that extends to the barrel, but I can't get picky with pricing. I don't want to go above $950 for the actual rifle. However, I do plan on getting an optic so I guess I don't necessarily need the iron sights. I'm new to this whole game, so I don't know the best sites to order and such not.
