$800 to spend...what auto loading shotgun to buy?

Ok I just sold a bunch of stuff on Craigslist and now I have $800 burning a hole in my pocket for a semi-auto "tactical" shotgun.

I had my heart set on a Mossberg 930 SPX (Buds has some for $520 including shipping) but now that I have a little more money than expected I was wondering what you guys would get? FN SLP? Benelli M4? I think I'd have to sell a few more things to get these though?

Any suggestions from the semi auto shotgun specialists?

If you must have a semi-auto. . . . Remington 1100.
Pick up a used one, and convert it to either the 'Tac' 1100 or the "Competition Master" 1100.

Hunt down a used M2 or M1S90 for perhaps a little more money.

I looked at a semi-auto shotgun I had never seen before. It was made by Stoeger and it looked identical to a Benelli. The salesman even said it is manufactured by the same folks that tool the Benelli thats why it looks like a carbon copy of one? Amybody ever seen these? It was $1000 cheaper than the Benelli at about $450.00

Are they reliable?

Oh and it has the Benelli licensed inertia driven system, not gas operated. Is that good?

Agree 100%. But, do the AK conversion and get a drum mag!

Nobody in Vegas seems to have a 930 SPX or FN SLP in stock on the shelves!!!

Ok I got me a 930 SPX tactical and LOVE IT!!! Even the sale guy said dont waste your money on the SLP since it doesnt give you leaps and bounds over the SPX. Plus the SLP needs parts changed when going from light loads to heavy loads...and the SPX doesnt.

If the SPX runs reliable...I wont regret not getting an FN SLP. Heck they look identical on the shelf.

That's why I was holding out, but as of today the drums are now $120.

The MD-20 only holds 2 3/4 shells, there is a European company that makes 20 round drums that can hold 3" shells. Can't find the site just yet...

The SPX with LPA GR sights is a great gun for the money. If you want to step up you need to go Benelli. The M4 is way above your price range but the M2 is about there with some careful shopping.

This thread got me interested in the various autos mentioned. The Stoeger 2000 appears to compare well to the Benelli inertia driven guns. It gets good marks over on Shotgun forums. Might have to check one out.

Yeah the Stoeger 2000 still has my interest but I think my 930SPX is going to hold me over for a few years in the semi-auto shotgun dept. But $450 for a Stoeger 2000 does sound like a smoking deal if they are reliable?

It's hard to go wrong with the Mossberg 930 SPX . . . An Awesome Autoloader (named as "Shotgun of the Year" by the Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence). Use the remainder for ammo and/or can't do without accessories.

ive been lusting for a Remington 1100 Tactical +4.

ill probably end up getting a Mossberg 930 combo though. they are a bit cheaper and i prefer the safety like my mossberg pump. i also dont like the tall AR type sights on the SPX.

I like these myself . I prefer the 3" magnum but you have to get a gunsmith to open the gasport for it to function with 2 3/4 shells. I have 2 converted so far and am looking for another magnum for a third.

I want another semi-auto 12 for 3-Gun and the 1100 Tac-4 might be a good fit. Already has the extended tube, good size barrel, and will take chokes. I also have a Dick's Gift Card to use up. Have to see if they have them or can get one.
