185g RN SWC loads for 10mm

I am just starting out so i am not looking for anything supper hot right now. just some loads to get my feet wet. I have 1000 185g RN SWC made by laser cast so i though i would start there. here thy are on there site. http://www.laser-cast.com/4010mm.html
I have IMR 800-X powder and Large mag primers. I looked on IMR's web site and thy had loads listed for 180 and 200 gr slugs but no 185 hard cast. Thanks so much for your help. Jarod Todd

I'd use the load data for 180gr and stay back from the max charge by about 10%. Keep your OAL longer than the book minimum. In fact, I'd recommend you keep your OAL at book max until you feel confident enough to adjust it. IMR 800-x is one of the best powders for 10mm. You can deliberately compress an overcharge into a case but you won't accidentally be able to. A compressed overcharge of 800-x will get your attention but it wont ruin your gun. (When I say "compressed" I'm talking about a ~15gr charge compacted into the case with a tool, then seating the bullet. Ala Clark)

You can have my guns when I run out of ammo. Which wont be happening anytime soon.

I go the other way, especially w/ high pressure rounds. Use the 200gr data & work back up. The 5gr diff wt probably doesn't make a lot of diff if you are running off the top end loads, but w/ 800X I assume you want to push them a bit.

hu compacting 15gr in a 10mm case and forcing the bullet in sound safe . I will be reloading this weekend but don't have a Chronograph to test out the vel. thanks for the help, if there is any more that would be great.

Be warry of anything quyoted reloading wise by Clark. The guy is a Darwin project waiting to happen. You can always use heavy bullet data for lighter bullet loads. Keep that in mind when working w/ any cartridge, any bullet/powder combo. With 800X, the only way to get good cgarge wts is by weighing. It won't throw consistant charges in my Dillon or my RCBS measures.
