Massad Ayoob Group Phoenix, AZ

Derby Guns is pleased to announce that Massad Ayoob is bringing his MAG40 training course to Phoenix, AZ November 8-12, 2010 at the Phoenix Rod and Gun Club, 915 West Olney Drive, Phoenix, AZ 85041


MAG40 is personally taught by Massad Ayoob and is a five day, 40-hour immersion course including approximately 50% classroom in rules of engagement for armed law-abiding private citizens, emphasizing legal issues, tactical issues, and aftermath management. Topics will include interacting with suspects, witnesses, responding police officers…threat recognition and mind-set…management of social and psychological aftermath after having had to use lethal force in defense of self or others…and preparing beforehand for legal repercussions and minimizing exposure to them. Situations in the home, at the place of business, or “on the street” will all be covered.

The other 50% of this immersion course includes the use of the defensive handgun under extreme stress. Draw from concealment, two-handed stances, shooting from cover, one-handed stances with either hand, speed reloading, and more are taught with an overall emphasis on fast, accurate shot placement. The course will culminate with a police-style qualification course. Estimated ammo count: 500 rounds. Prerequisite: basic understanding of firearms safety.
Equipment List:
Functioning, quality handgun with at least 3 magazines or speedloaders
Safe holster with covered trigger guard, suitable belt and ammunition pouches
Note taking materials
Ear and eye protection
Hat with a brim
500 rounds of ammunition
Cost: $800

HOTEL Information:

The Baseline Rd area just east of I-10 has a variety of hotels and restaurants, as well as entertainment and shopping. Within an easy 9 mile commute down Baseline Road to the range. Restaurants vary from fast food to linen table cloths, and hotels from full service to economy. There is a mall within walking distance, as well as drug stores and convenience markets.
