PolyTech Legend AK 47 Milled
If you were to run across a USED PolyTech pre-ban Legend AK 47 Milled in excellent condition, how much you expect to pay for one? Just curious...

Whoa? If its milled with a folding spike bayonet I'd guess $1500? I saw a stamped spiker polytech type 56 for sale in my town for $1200 in beater condition.

$1300 for a milled poly. More if it's got accessories. For reference, an underfolder poly mint condition with 1 poly mag and 100 round drum sold for about $1400. The mags are expensive, even more so the drum.

Price is all relative. If there is someone out there who feels $2000 is a fair asking price for a gun you cannot buy on demand anymore...it might be worth it? Rare guns that arent imported anymore are hard to price. If you are trying to sell one for $2000 at Christmas time in this depressed economy you might be in for a long wait?

A Legend is a cat of a different stripe. Expect to start at 1800.00 and go from there. With a new in box and accessories starting at about 2250.00.
Now depending on condition, you might pick up a used one, visible handling marks and rubs in the blueing for 15-1600.
Two grand should get you a like new, no box or accessories, one mag kind of a deal.

I am really tempted to grab one for $2000
What about a pre-ban Arsenal Bulgarian milled in excellent condition? $1,000-1400 range?

Look up Arsenal SA-M7 classic. This is a post ban with original Bulgarian receiver and barrel. Price new is around $1900 but you can get it used for much less.

yeah i was trying to find used ones of those sa-m7, haven't had much luck but I gotta say the looks of that one isn't nearly as appealing (to me) as the polytech legend pre-89, the wood on the legend is beautiful. im very picky on the wood and the color of the wood etc... and i'll go as far as to say i don't like most ak's because of the furniture.
polytech legend preban

Meeh, I've had dark ones but the blonde, something about it that really attracts me. Definitely eye of the beholder stuff. I've seen blonde polytechs too and wish I had bought the underfolder that came up for sale a month or so ago. Guy was selling it for $1400 with a 100 round drum. But just like anything else, it's either this or than, not both.
Good luck on your hunt.

Indeed it would. Polytechs/Norincos are overrated Chinese crap. I do wish I had one, just so I could sell it to some fool and use the $ to buy a few more Saigas.

^ Sure, if you like obsolete, overly heavy designs whose bolts may or may not last even a few thousand rounds.

Here's a pic of a Chinese AK bolt with <2000 rnds on it. Imo, it says it all:
I suggest a Russian AK, (Saiga). Those filthy Cossack sluts did invent em, after all.
I've several, in a few different calibers, and they're great rifles; lighter, more durable, much less expensive, and far more modern than anything Chinese.

Yup and Karl Benz invented the automobile so I guess Chevy's and Ford's are no good.
Anything made of metal can fail, show me a pile of failed bolts and you'll have something but one does not "say it all". Sorry.

$900 in 2001 is worth a lot more in 2011. Polys are probably one of few that have continually appreciated in value.
Milled AKs are heavier than their stamped counterparts. I would agree. If I can only have one AK, it would be my Saiga or Bulgarian AK-74 side folders. They're compact, lightweight, and I can carry lots of ammo
However, most of us probably own a few guns (or a few AKs) so practicality aside, it's nice to own a milled AK-47. I certainly did not buy mine because it's better. I bought it because it FEELS AND LOOKS SO DAMN GOOD! I had 2 (sold the other one). I like that feel of that heavy solid gun. For someone that already has a few AKs in the safe, a proper type 3 milled AK-47 should definitely be on the list.
