Grizzly Extreme Ammunition 40 S&W
I received a box of 40 S&W Grizzly Extreme ammo today. The box said 135gr and 1,350 fps. It is a brass/copper alloy bullet with four petals. I shot one through 4 layers of heavy denim into gallon jugs of water. The four petals open completely up and the distance between the ends of two opposing petals is one and five eight's inches. It made an empressive exit hole through the first jug and entrance hole into the second. However, it did not exit out of the second jug. As you will note by the surface area of the opened bullet, it probably would take a lot of energy to get further penatration. Interesting idea though.

Saw that stuff in a magazine, thought it was interesting. I think of it as good as extreme shock

Sorry, I was gone for a while. They do not have them on their website yet and you have to call and order. I do not know what calibers they have developed at this time, but it is really interesting stuff. It does not penetrate that far, but would have a shocking effect. Maybe enough to stop an attack. Below is the link, they are know for hard cast hunting rounds. If you are interested, just call the number.

Any chance you can post some pics of the ammo itself and what the box looks like?

The pic alone is impressive, but from .40 to 1 5/8" is very impressive. So what was the penetration about 10"? Sounds good for HD round where over penetration might be an issue.

Probably a lot less. That round's SD is shot to hell when it opens up.

I will post picture of round and box when I get home tonight. They look quiet ordinary. A copper bullet with four slots through it.

I think you maybe right. If he used a heavier bullet with a little less expansion, he may get better penatration. However, I bet it would pretty much mess up the first 5 or 6 ". When you actualy see it opened up and the exit hole on the jug is awsome.
