229 or 239?

Since I have 2 other .40's I had looked into getting a new 229 or 239 in the caliber as well. Since it will be ccw which would be better?

Also how does carrying a round in the chamber work in these models as far as not having an accidental firing? Is there more of a chance or less of a chance?

I have a half dozen SIGs of different shapes and sizes, and have never had an "accidental firing;" and that would be a rare condition in today's modern firearms.

My primary carry is a P229ST in 9mm, with the secondary option is my P239TT, also in 9mm. The 229 came in .40 S&W, but since I do not care for that caliber, I swapped in a Bar-Sto 9mm.

Man thats a pretty picture! Would you consider the 229 to be the same type of concealability (is that a word?) as a glock23? My main concern is which is easier to hide and the dif of 13 vs 8 shots?

I'm not familiar with the G23, but the 229 takes 12 round .40 mags.

Keep in mind that the 229 was designed specifically for the .40 S&W. It's not just a 9mm based afterthought.

The topic's dead if you're getting a Glock, which is probably the better gun for you.

I have carried a 220, 226, 229 ang 239 on and off duty. The 239 is my current concealed carry gun. I don't feel outgunned in any way with it.

Had a 3rd gen G23, and now the 229. Don't really care for the the feel of the single stack grip on the 239 in my medium sized hands. LOVE the trigger on the Sig 100x better than the Glock. If I can't do what I need to do with 12 rounds vs 13, I'm screwed anyway.

Gotcha.

I carry the 229 and 239.

The 229's ergos (a 228 9mm spin off), and the gun overall is extremly popular for carry, HD and range use. Given that it's a double stack, it holds ~50% more ammo.

The 239 is a single stack and for most people, the front strap is very uncomfortable. We typically replace the stock plastic grips with Hogue rubber, wood, or Nill grips. This little pistol is extremely accurate given its barrel length.

I'd go with the 229. It's not that much larger than the 239 and the extra ammo makes it a simple choice IMO. If you need something smaller, it's probably going to need to be a lot smaller, like a J-frame or a little .380.

The P232 is a sweet little .380.

Which is why I will enver understand why they haven't done it already. Seems like it would sell better than the Rainbow Bright Collection of X5s.

It's been discussed many times and pistolsmiths have concluded that a 9mm from a blowback setup would be too much.

I agree with you on SIGs "Circus Colors." A combat weapons manufacturer has no business producing pimp pistols.

Which trigger action do you have? SA/DA, DAK?

I'm considering a 229 for my next gun as well, and can't decide between those two trigger choices.

I need to try both.

All I've done is dry fire the DA/SA 229 in the store, and I could tell that I liked the action... especially the SA.
