took the new 1911 out

Made a trip to the gun store Friday to trade my S&W 642 in for a baby glock, but left with this. She was looking so pretty in the case while the salesman was doing paperwork on the glock, I said no,... I want this one The sights suck, and the trigger is pretty heavy for a 1911, but I don't think I did bad for 33ft out. Also, there was a huge turtle, I mean frisbee size stumpin out in the middle of our pond. I leaned against a tree, shot him, heard it hit, he wavered from side to side, rared up and splashed backwards into the water. He was back on that stump in 15 min, I said touche to the turtle and left, Haha. Thanks guys for checking out my thread, hope yall had as fun of a sunday as I did.

The turtle was probably 30 years old.

1. The name calling is uncalled for, grow up.

2. This isn't some endangered sea turtle, chill out guys.

3. I fish this pond all summer and the amount of turtles that I catch is annoying, I hate loosing lures, and dragging them up only to kill them

4. The turle is still alive and well, so maby you guys can sleep allittle better tonight,

Nice pistol, triggers and sights are an easy fix.

Lots of folks don't understand about managed ponds and turtles.

Turtles are a nuisance and left un-checked will quickly eradicate any fish population and make swimming a bit unpleasant as well. They are about as useful as prairie-dogs, crows or coyotes... meaning not at all.

I keep my pond clear of them with a rimfire rifle from the back deck (about 80 yards to the edge of the pond).

thanks CMG!, Tell me about it! I am glad someone understands the situation. A few summers ago we had a ton of crappie/sunfish, then we had a ton of turtles., I evened the playing field this past summer, hopefully I can bring the population back. 80yards! i bet thats a blast! A scoped 10/22 was my weapon weapon of choice.

have a good one,

R.M.

+1

City folk have no idea what damage the cute little talking Disney turtles, beavers, prairie dogs, and coyotes do to there own ecosystem.
Shooting just for the heck of it, no.
To get rid of a nuisance that nature can not keep in-check herself because of us humans mucking it up, yes.

Personally I use a Anschutz Mach2, Annie .22LR, or a good ol' .223 for dispatching.

Anywho... nice pistol Bud.
