Boodock Saints II

Watched Boondock Saints 2 yesterday and I had a question for you tacticool guys. If you have seen it can you tell me the purpose of the Mexican character holding a shotgun shell next to the ejector port. Just before shooting he loaded it in and racked the forgrip to load it. Please enlighten me!

I didnt see the movie but so far it sounds like you just explained a "port load". You can go over or under. Thats when someone manually loads a round into the chamber. I only do it when loading the gun for the every first time or reloading, then continue to load the mag. I do this out of habit more than anything. My thought is if I have a round in the chamber ready to go, I can shoot it at least once if SHTF in the middle of me loading/reloading the mag tube.
