I'm building my first AR, and it will be primarily used for NRA High Power league matches. I want to stay in the Service Rifle class but need some clarification.

From the searching I've done so far, flat top uppers seem to be more prolific a2 uppers. However, would a flat top with detachable carry handle still be legal? Also, I'm planning on running a 20" H-BAR contour barrel, and I was wondering if it has to be threaded to use an A2 flash hider or can it be plain with no comp / flash hider?

I am not an NRA High-Power shooter - some of my friends are; however, here is the answer to the best of my knowledge.

An A2-style detachable carry handle may be used for NRA HP Service Rifle. I believe that for 1000-yard shooting, a regular A2 style upper is preferred due to overall elevation adjustment compared to the detachable carry handle mounted on a flat-top.

For the muzzle, I believe you may have either a plain crowned muzzle or an A2 FH.
