Nothing but problems with my (used) 59 that I bought for duty carry.

A friend carried a nickel 39 and also had more than few jams with it.

I soon went to one of the brand new Glock 40 calibers, even before they marked them G22s.

My buddy went to a Glock 19 after he shot my .40 at the range.

I did take a chance and bought a used 1076 about 8 years ago that turned out to be a real shooter.

Problems with a 3rd gen Smith & Wesson is more than slightly unusual. I ditched the Glocks and went back to the 3rd gens. I got no complaints. Bought em all used. My 59 looks like roadkill but functions perfectly.

Today it is Glock .45gap's or Sig's that I would carry.

They are known to go band when you need them too.

In Texas Leo's use mostly Glock's or a few Sig's.

Use what the pro's do. They know what works.

My Dad had a M39 no-dash.
From 1970 to his death.
I used it for a number of years with no problems.
From there, I owned a ton of Smith autos.
All reliable.
Still have a bunch.

The 39s and 59s finally broke the revolver hold on US law enforcement.
Glock is just a johnny-come-late.

I just bought a like-new 39-2 yesterday with 5 mags. I was really surprised on how well it shot. The only thing it needs is one of the S&W emblems on the grips and it would be 100%. Now all I need to find is some leather for it.

I found a beat up 39-2 in a pawn shop and bought it cheap.
When I found out it shot real well, I removed the wood grips
and replaced with electrical heat shrink to give me the thinnest possible grip ever. Kinda like wrapping the grip with
very heavy duty cellophane kitchen wrap. The gun looks like dog poop but the grip is now thinner than the Keltec 380 AT.

Fantastic for inside the waist carry now.

For me, it's a 39-2 Blued...

I have never found a pistol that I find more comfortable than these.

I have strayed many times, but always came home to an M-39.

It's funny, truth be told, I just finished cleaning one of mine only a few minutes ago.

GREAT shooting weapons.

I still carry my 639 often. even though the stainless frame is no lightweight.

Owned two Mod.39s and one Mod.59 in the 1970s. Carried a Mod. 469 from 1986 to 1988 when the Dept. went to Glock. Never had a problem with Smith pistols. I wish Smith would re-issue the Mod.39 beause I would purchase on ASAP. I still have several magazines for the 469.
