When were you at "Hooterville?" I was at Blytheville from 1974 to 1978 in the 340th Bomb Sq. Interacted with quite a few of the security guys who guarded my airplane at the alert facility---including the one who went nuts and wanted to shoot the whole crew--took the Wing Cmdr and the SPS Cmdr to defuse. My neighbor Lt Col George Allison was the SPS Cmdr then.

Went back to see my old house on what was Center Street on base then. base is now predominantly a retirement community. Nice lady let my wife an me look through the house we spent 3 years in early in my career

Hooterville! some B 52 crews had that 100 mission patch. Haven't heard that forever, in fact our Chief threatened us if we said that around him we would be on a remote in Iceland. he took that much pride in that base.

I was there from 86-91. Had a lot of fun times, a lot of good people there. I have friends in the town and stop by. I was on 7th street just befor the 2000 area housing. My old house on base is abandoned it's sad. There are vines and trees growing up through the screen doors it's a mess. Looks like that old movie the omega Man or that show after humans.

I forget some of the CC's but when we closed it was COL Connley. COL Phillips was base CC. For a SAC base it was not bad. There were no real headhunters there, one or two squadron CC,s but as long as you showed up for work on time you were good. the tanker crews were all great. the Bomber crews for the most part were good. We had a couple times where there were tensions but that was more fall out from our overhead and their overhead not "playing well' trying to prove who was running something.

We had a couple incidents. One where one of our guys got into a big "argument" when his wife found out he had a "friend" they called EST in and we were ready to breach the door and the SP CC interveined.

1989-1993

I was Law Enforcement in the Air Force from 1989-1993. Back then LE and Security were separate classifications in the same squadron. I served at RAF Bentwaters in the United Kingdom and Kirtland AFB, New Mexico.

Not retired Security Police (or Air Police as you were known when I first started my career), but I am retired, and I was an AFOSI Agent for a number of years. Tech-agent actually.

I'm not retired Security Police but I did five years with the SP's in the New York Air National Guard - 107th Fighter/Interceptor Group at Niagara Falls Air Force Base. I was with them from 1978-1982 after my 4 for the Corps (USMC) 1965-1969. I did my initial SP training at Lackland and Camp Bullis in 1978 and was activated for the Prison Strike at Attica State Prison in 1979 - Operation Golden Plum. I had some very interesting experiences with the SP's and remember them fondly. Loved the Blue Beret.
