Most of these F/As were selling at half the above listed price about 10 years ago.

I got my Walther for P25T. ParaOrd at that time was I believe 50-55T. Springfield (in form of Imbel) sold by twin pines was less than P30T before 2000.

Also -- I think for book accounting purposes, you do have to depreciate this things. CPAs, pls correct me if I'm wrong.

I dont believe that the purpose of it all is to undervalue the worth of his firearms.

It would be prudent for any accountant to depreciate these similar to a vehicle or any other chattel/ equipment and at the same time record them at acquisition cost and not at fair market value at the time that an audit has taken place.

i agree with akula, In 2001 Paraords Limited are sold at 50k only. Glocks in PB were on Sale at 24k during the Gun Ban.

The HPR COLT listed who knows? Maybe just M16A1's which cost only 20-30k before. Baka iba dyan bigay lang e.

What I see good about him is he didn't hide his passion for Guns and the shooting sports. Like other candidates who has cache of firearms but because of the negative conotation of Gun ownership, tinatago at nagsisinungaling na lang.

He could have opt not to touch on this topic but he opt to tell us that.

My first Glock cost me P29k in 1999. And right after I made the downpayment during the gunshow, I discovered to my dismay Twin Pines selling Browning Hi-Powers for only P24k... And CZ75s for only P19k...

I just submitted my Statement of Assets and Liabilities, wonder why "acquisition cost" is required to be placed even for properties obtained 15years ago with no provision for depreciation... gee, am I that rich?

Yes it is good that he is transparent. But I think the list should not have been posted on the TV without the proper explanation since it will be subjected to speculations. I made an estimated price list so anyone here can share their inputs so as to provide a detailed account on how it became 400,000. As such, the list has been revised. So malapit na siya sa 400,000.

Anyways, I have a question with regards to guns as assets. Does anyone here know how to compute a worth of a gun that was bought let say 5 years ago ? How does devaluation and appreciation come into play ?

I got my second Glock in 1997 for 26k and at the gunshow I found out (much to my dismay) that the HK USP was being sold for 24-26k. Around this time, HK MP5's were also going for around 100k, you can get a used M16 for 20k and a new one for about twice that much. I think his declaration of 400k is realistic enough.

So generally speaking the computation of guns here in the Philippines as asset is based purely on acquisition cost plus devaluation ? More importantly, are guns here really considered assets ? Because to my knowledge, owning a gun here is a privilege.

Yes, owning guns here is a privilege, if you are extended that privilege and you acquire one - it becomes an asset to you.

i figure that the 400k would still be realistic based on the acquisition cost.

Agree that in the Phils, owning a gun is a priveledge according to the current law but it is still an "asset" by accounting definition, which is depreciable if so desired.

I commend Noynoy for being upfront and transparent.

From a progun perspective, I would prefer someone in Malacanang who is a responsible gun owner himself not by virtue of authority given to him but as a matter of choice.
