I need some advice. I felt like my compact size glock was printing pretty bad under my polo shirt yesterday. I wear it in a comp tac iwb holster at about 3:30-4:00 oclock.

I had a undershirt that i tuck in my jeans, then just leave my short sleeve polo shirt un tucked.

felt a little exposed.....

what are my options?

How long have you been carrying?

When I was new to CCW, I felt like the entire world could see my sidearm even though it was well concealed. I carry my G19 pretty often concealed by only a t-shirt or polo. and honestly don't have any trouble doing so. I'm also a big fan of my S&W 442 when I need even more concealment. (be it pocket carry of IWB)

In short, it may just take a little time to get used to CCW when wearing light clothing.

I just tie it to a pants loop, so no belt is really required...

I like it better with an undershirt as well...

What is your body type? Skinny? Average? Successful Life Body? Beer gut? Love handles?

Is your polo shirt at least one size larger than you would normally wear if you weren't carrying concealed? That is, is your shirt "baggy" for lack of a better word? Does it have longer tails so it does not ride up?

Do you wear darker colored shirts, or shirts with patterns? Lighter shades tend to not conceal as well.

Odd that when I opened this thread, the banner ad was Alabama Holster. I was going to recommend you look at one of their IWB holsters and suggest appendix carry.

You hardly ever bend backwards enough to print, the gun is pushed into the soft lower abdomen (softer than a hip), depending on the drape of the shirt and size of your chest, you might get some extra coverage.

An added benefit is that you don't have to use your gun hand to lift your polo like you would at 3:30-4 and a seated draw might be easier than a traditional side placement holster seated draw(YMMV).

Of course, if you have nice roomy pockets, you could try to pocket carry...hee hee.

Regardless of the season I usually carry a full size pistol.


Summer,

Jeans or shorts.
Tee shirt (not tucked) -- dark color solid.

Size of shirt depends on who makes the shirt as some fit differently.

Examples:

Target I buy large.
Gap I buy extra large.

5'11"
155 pounds.

I usually carry around one o'clock.

Seldom at four o'clock.


No problems with concealment.


Try adjusting your clothing.

First.. if you have a gut... loose it. A flat stomach combined with some good weightlifting will give you a chest size that is larger than your waist size. You will then be able to carry, IWB appendix postion, a Glock 26/27/33 without any problem (as I do.)

And with the love handles gone, you can pack a Glock in the kidney postition.

Second, get a thin Kyndex holster to carry the Glock in. Not only does that take a bit off the width of the gun, it also is much more resistant to sweat (and here in Texas it gets HOT in the Summer.) By doing that you lesson the printing and don't have to hunch or other behavior that stands out.

Three. A grip reduction, say be Bowie Tactical Concepts, helps a bit to.

Four. Make sure your T-shirt size is a bit larger than you normaly use. Skin tight T-shirts are a no-go unless you wear a jacket and wearing a jacket in the summer in Texas also makes you stand out.

Thorazine and Deaf Smith have given good advice. Dress around the gun (but not too baggy - that can set off bells to), blend in (no winter jackets in summer), find a good holster and good *GUN* belt, and should it apply to you, hit the gym.
