38 Special Velocities

I am curious as to what kind of velocity loss one can expect from a .38 Snub compared to a 4 inch service revolver.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find some velocity data?

There's no real hard number formula, esp when comparing 2 different guns as each is an individual. The above post pretty well gets as close as you going to find.
Some loads are well suited to the handgun length barrel and only lose approx 50fps per inch- like the newer 135gr gold dot.
Other can lose a bit more if they use a slower burning powder.
