So...I was dissecting my G19 and realized it had a part that I never knew was there. A firing pin channel liner. I shined a light down there and saw that the top of it had copper crap on it. I don't know whether this is factory lubricant (The gun has about 10k through it so that would be impressive if it was) or some other crap that I should worry about. What do you think?

Second question: How does one remove a firing pin channel liner?

And finally, just out of curiosity, will a glock function without the firing pin channel liner?

There will be no lubricant in the firing pin channel from the factory.

You can remove it by using a small screw to capture it and pull it out. Once you do this you should replace the channel liner. Why would you want to remove it?

It may function without the liner, but won't be reliable.

Leave it in there and just run a swab in to clean it.

Just clean all the channel with alcohol and Q'tips, to remove dirt and grease.
Do not take it out, you don't need to.
Just clean it and don't mess with it!
If it's not broken, don't fix it!

Was having some trouble getting that copper crap out, is all. I'm not sure what the hell it could be. I'll try alcohol and q-tips. Thanks!
