Anyone have experience with a truly superior lubricant that is not oliy or greasy, and does not smell so strongly people start looking around to see where the smell is coming from?

No odor I have noticed. Check the temp range on it. been using it for about a year, no complaints.
Jig-A-Loo all around lubricant. (from the label) invisible, water repellent, doesn't stain & doesn't stink. I've used it on just about everything and it works as advertised. It comes in an orange can and the greatest thing other than the smell or lack of is if I happen to get some on my clothes there isn't a stain.
Militec-1 works wonders on pocket knives & is what Benchmade recomends for their blades
