Rear sight...Serrations or no serrations?

Gonna be getting some Ameriglo's...Proglo up front with plain rear. I don't however have any experience with serrations. So I was hoping someone could give me the lowdown on the + - of the serrations would I benifit from them? It will be an occasional GSSF gun, but of course Defense and plinking as usual.

Serrrations are added typical for glare reduction.

I guess, that is the one and only thing I have heard about them. Any other reasons to have them?

I was in the crowd of those who thought they were unnecessary until I put a set of Henie Straight 8's on my HK45C. They have the front and rear serrations and I'm sold now.

Worth it IMHO.

As Tbags noted, they're for glare reduction.

Take a look at the attached pic...

This is my 3rd Gen G17 modeling a LaserMax Sabre and Dawson Precision Adj/FO sights.

Immediately obvious is the glare reduction due to the serrations in the flat-black, rear sight.

Also obvious, is how that front FO sight "pops" in that all black rear sight notch!

Hmmm......Well I ordered the plain black NO Serrations. I guess I'll give them a try, and if I don't like it , it's cheap enough to replace it!
