Question on old semiauto by sears

I am being offered a 22 semiauto.The gun is from sears(yup older)and has a magazine tube under the barrel.It looks like walnut furniture.

Ive looked at it and its in an easy +90% condition.It looks alot like those older winchesters.

Guy said he will sell it to me 75 bucks and will take alil cash here and there till I get it paid off.

How much are these worth and any idea who made them?

Several different gun manufacturers made guns for Sears. I have a cross-reference list of the more common models, but I'll need the model number from the barrel or receiver to use it. If you get the model number, post it here and I'll look it up.

I used to have a link to the list online, but I think I lost the bookmark when Firefox took a crap on me a year or so ago. I'll see if I can find the link, and if I do I'll post it here.

Anyone else have it bookmarked?

On the barrel it read mod 2390 and it takes shorts,long and long rifle ammo interchangably.

receiver grooved for scope.

$75 a good price for it in 95%?any idea what these are worth?any kinds of issues with them?

That should be a Winchester 190 with Sears name marked on it.

If it is in good condition I'd say it is easily worth $75. Blue Book says $75-$150 depending upon condition.

The old Sears .22s are usually excellent guns, made by other major makers and branded for Sears, and a Sears' Winchester 190 is a great working .22, easily worth 75 bucks.

I still prize the first rifle I ever owned -- a Sears copy of a 500-series Remington .22 bolt-action, the classic Christmas present from my parents when I was a young boy. It's still a better rifle today than most of what you can buy brand new nowadays....

I agree on all counts.

Check the stock for cracking near the pistol grip; I've seen a few 190s like that over the years (not sure why; maybe dropped?). Gotta keep these clean to use the lower-powered ammo reliably, but I'd pay $75-$100 for one rather quickly in the condition described.

if a .22 shoots and doesn't make your face hurt to look at it, it's worth 100$. If it's in good shape, 150$. Take the deal.

Stock is great, no dents or cracks.

I like the idea of it shooting shorts and long rifle ammo.Ive got a bunch of shorts.

Here is a link to a non-factory manual for the 190, which is used for several other similar guns as well (some are manually-operated repeaters, some are semi-autos; apparently most of the internal parts are similar enough that they felt they could be lumped together).

Shorts may not cycle the action on it making it a straight pull manual action.

You young kids.

Sears used to sell guns, Kmart used to sell guns, Target used to sell guns, Montgomery Wards used to sell guns at one time pretty much every major discount or department store sold guns.

My mom and dad even bought a beagle from the Sears catalog.
JC Penny also sold guns.

My dad passed down his JC Higgins model 36 (semi automatic 22LR) to me. He bought it new about 1960. Still in the original steel case with cleaning kit and 4X scope with rubber eye piece (somewhat cracked with age).

It looks like new and is accurate enough to take a squirrel out of a tree at 100yrds.

Value $150-$250 on the market, to me PRICELESS.
