My best guess is "no."
Once yu have entered your password the file system behaves normally (which is why you can e-mail files to people). If you're doing a bit-by-bit backup to an image then yes. If you're copying data from the encrypted drive to another unencrypted store then, no.

Read some more about the product before you take the plunge. Encryption should not be taken lightly, you can destroy your data if you're just "funning around."
