Hello all,

First post! I have been an avid shooter for over 30 years, but just last week got my first Glock. It's a sweet shooter and is simply a fine piece of work. For most of my life I've carried a custom Colt Officer's and a few years ago switched it out for an H&K 2000.

I've looked all around (online and here locally) and am curious as to what ammo you use for Self Defense/carry. I picked up some Speer gold dot 155gr, but the shop actually had some Golden Sabers and Winchester Rangers both in 165gr and 180 flavor.

I got some Federal Champion at WalMart for practice and my G27 just eats that up too, so without getting back into reloading, I've found a bargain supplier for range ammo.

Just not decided on what to carry.

congrats on your g27 it is an awesome ccw weapon! i carry one but with a
g33 barrel in it. for both my .40 and .357 sig needs, i use speer gold dots. honestly you cant go wrong with the other two options you stated either.

WWB for paper punching and Winchester PDX1 180's for personal protection. Both loads function flawlessly in my g27 and there seems to be a steady supply of both at my local retailers.

Winchester LE 180gr bonded. Or 165gr Speer Gold Dots.

I've been using speer gold dots in 165 and 180gr loadings for PD. My handloads have been berry's plated 165gr FP and 180HP, for practice, and all have fed flawlessly in my G23. I like 180s for SD & also for range use, however, I've been less picky on bullet weight for training lately. For SD I'm currently loaded w/Hornady 180 JHP FPDs

First of all, welcome and congrats on a good choice of a carry gun! I personally carry Hornady FPD 155 grain hp's. I like speer GDHP's too but I prefer Hornady for the simple fact it's manufactured right here in my home state! For range use I used to use blazer brass 180grain. Great stuff and shoots well, but I have not been able to find it much lately, so I've started using Privi Partizan 180grain brass cased stuff. Seems to be pretty good thus far. WELCOME TO GT!

I carry it loaded with Rem Golden Saber of the 165 gr weight. It has run these 100% malfunction free in my trials. Regards,

The 180gr will have a bit less snap, but I use a 165gr because of the short barrel.
The lighter bullet gets up to speed quicker.

For personal protection i use winchester pdx for my .40's & .45's, Corbon for 9mm, either gold dot or dpx in my .380, & hydrashok & hornady customs in 10mm. Of course i use walmart cheap stuff for the range.

Speer Goldot 165 grains, Remington Golden Saber 165 grains for carry.
For range practice what ever I can find, the cheaper the better, right now PMC Bronze FMJ 165 gr.

Congrats on the 27 and your first post! The 27 is amazingly accurate and pleasant to shoot.

Personally, I like 180gr and it is either Speer Gold Dot or Hornady TAP. Hornady is not bonded but is more accurate (at least in my hands).

I use Federal HST 155 gr in my G27. They work fine, but I use them because I got a good price on some 1000 round cases from ammoman several years ago. I suspect other rounds would also work well.

I use Hornady 165gr Critical Defense, Winchester 165gr SXT-T Series, or Federal 165gr HST's. Also use Gold Dot 155 and 165gr. Just depends on what mag I grab when I carry. LOL. For paper targets I use MagTech 180gr FMJ's or Remington 180gr FMJ.

Do you have a GAP extension for your mags? It makes such a big difference. I bought a pair of them and after using them I had to buy 6 more for the other G27 mags I have. GAP's are awesome!

Congrats on your G27 and welcome to GT. As for ammo I use , WWB , Remington , and GeorgiaArms canned heat 165gr fmj's. For SD I use , Hornady 155gr TAP/FPD and just ordered some Hornady 165gr Critical Defense .

Welcome and congrats on the G27, it's my EDC gun.

You really can't go wrong with any major name brand. I currently have mine loaded with 180gr Winchester PDX1. My favorite rounds would probably be anything in the Ranger T series and PDX1 series. If I could find Federal HST locally I'd probably like it as much as the Winchester stuff.

I also like Gold Dots, Hornady TAP FPD and Hornady Custom. I haven't tried the 165gr Hornady Critical Defense load yet, but I'd probably like it just as much too if I had some experience with it.

I train with 165 or 180 grain FMJ, usually from Federal or CCI.

I carry 155 grain Gold Dots because that's what I'm issued. My preference would be for 180 grain Gold Dot or Ranger Bonded.
