Stan Chen 1911's?

All I've seen are these pictures, does anyone have any firsthand experience with his custom work?

Looks and weight saving.

I'm personally not real big on the looks of fluted barrels, but I do appreciate the work that goes into a barrel like this.

Barrels can be fluted when the 1911 has a bull barrel setup and/or when its chambered for a smaller caliber round. In both instances, the barrel is thicker and can be fluted to save weight. The 1911 above does not have a bull barrel, but it is chambered in 38 Super, leaving the barrel walls thicker.

I'm not sure it's my thing or not, but it's pretty sweet looking. It definitely stands out from the average custom. Ok, I do like it. Probably wouldn't own one though.

Other than the barrel flutes and cutouts on the top of the slide and barrel, I like it.

The attention to detail and the machine work on that pistol is incredible. I would have no problems whatsoever adding that beauty to my collection. Plus.....I like the .38 Super! That is a beautiful weapon!!

From those pics looks it looks like quality work, and proves that ball end-mills can be used for good or evil.

As they should be, his attention to detail is equaled by very few.

Stan is definately one of the masters with a mill. I'd love to own one of his guns.

I prefer something more plain jane simple looking. I'd love to have something like Bac's Yost or something from Chuck.

Some will claim it is just for weight reduction, but IMO it is honestly a "look at me and what I can do" type of modification. That said, I think Chen's work is outstanding.

His work looks amazing but every time I see a fluted barrel it looks like something from a movie I picture some sexy assassin lady holding it.

Maybe I just have problems.
