just picked up a...

Remington
It's a really nice gun, IMO better than the Springfield mil-spec.
The fit on the one I chose was nice and tight, the other samples had a little play in the slide to frame fit. I know that it shouldn't matter, but since they had a few I asked to see a few of them. Will have more pics once I get home. I'll take it to the range on Saturday when I meet up with Hokieshooter.

Here's a quick pic

My dealer was nice enough to e-mail me last night and tell me he just got one in yesterday. He is always doing things like that to me. It is a sharp looking pistol and I will have one.

I like the subtle advertisement for the multitool.

"Your 1911 isn't complete without it! Look at this empty space in the box! You're missing out, order today!"

It appears to be blued, is it? I like that better than parkerizing.

Looks pretty nice actually, thanks for posting pics of it. Please post more and some shooting reports when you get a chance...

What was your shop asking for these, and what shop?

Thanks guys!!!

I wasn't planning on buying anything, but I had to have one before Brian

I'm going to take a lot of pics as I break it down, since its new to the market.

Sticker was $699, but I got it for less but not the $600 street price people were thinking it would go for :(

It's not parkerized, which I like.

Yeah, once I saw the dealer cost, I knew $600 wasn't going to happen.

I just came back from my dealer (I was picking up a new 1911) and he let me fondle the new Remington. Me really like. I do wish it had an arched MSH on it. He has it priced at $649.95. I told him I just need to find a way to pay for it now. I have already spent my spare cash. I may have to put it on layaway. What to do? Hmmmmm?

+1. the one i looked at was crap.

i noticed quack's doesn't have a lanyard loop like the one i saw as well.

i do like it's features, if i can find one fitted like quack's, i might be inclined to purchase it

hey quack, is the grip safety curve more rounded on yours? any discomfort when gripping? i saw a pic of one on 1911forum, and it seemed less sharp, and more rounded. (where the web of your hand rests). this one also had a "standard" style thumb safety (like the mil spec's), unlike the "GI" style one on yours. (they must be mixing and matching parts)

thanx

Well, if you think it may be a while before they get another, I'd set it aside.

I may not pick mine up for a while after it comes in. I've spent a boat load of cash on 1911s this month and I still have two more to go.

the R1's are all over the place in my area. there's certainly no shortage. no reason to rush if you can't afford it

I haven't seen one in my area yet.

...of course, I haven't been looking either. My main dealer ordered one for me, so I'll wait.

They aren't Remington direct, so it may take a little longer with the middleman involved.

didn't notice any discomfort.
the thumb safety is a little on the stiff side, but that might be from it being a GI style, i'm used to the extended thumb safeties.

one thing i wish is that it was a 70 series gun :(

i'm going to shoot this without doing any of my usual pre-shooting (other than cleaning) work to it.

and who in the hell is E-RPC? that's who's making them for Remington.
