Have been working up a 200g plated-HP practice/target load...

...using Berry's bullet. I've shot a couple-hundred medium-power loads from a rest over the last-few days. Every time I shoot one of my 37s, I'm just tickled that I bought them. These things shoot so 'softly' compared to my .40s and 357SIG-G32 that it's amazing--to me at least. I've never shot a .45ACP pistol, probably because 1911-type pistols just never appealed to me, but these .45GAPs are really nice guns to shoot a lot from.

BTW I'm progressing well on that magic-combination load, but I know I'm way too fussy about these things. But I'm retired so have to fill my days with something!

I had both my G22 and G38 out to the range Friday and you are so correct. The 45 GAP is a nice shooting round compared to the 40 S&W. The only reason I even have a 40 S&W is I bought a Detroit PD G22 as a collector's piece.

pret' near ANY round is a nice shooting rnd compared to 40...
There's just not much I like about that cal...

Jeff, I tried a variation of Danny's suggested load recently.
I used a Berry's 185 gr HBRN slug instead of 200gr
Nice mild paper puncher and more than enough "umph" to cycle the slide reliably on my 39
I don't have notes in front of me, but 'think" it ran right around 850fps.

GAP really is a dawggone great caliber

as far as working up a load for "tight as possible" groups accuracy....
I've never been able to get pin point accuracy from any Berry's bullet
(nor Rainer plated for that matter)
Mind you, I can only tell those subtle groups size differences in bullets from the rest at 20 yrds.
And that's in my most accurate 45 auto pistol
Off hand shooting (in "my" hands) I can't tell any difference and they're more than fine.
