Heinie Springfield 1911

http://www.heinie.com/information.php?info_id=23

Quote:
ALL PROCEEDS GO TO ST. JUDE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL

Richard and Marilyn Heinie, of Heinie Specialty Products, along with employee Sara Davis are avid St. Jude Children Research Hospital supporters. St. Jude’s sister hospital is located a mere 130 miles from Heinie’s main Quincy office; this close proximity allows them to participate in a fun-filled fundraiser for this amazing cause. The Quincy to Peoria St. Jude Run is a relay style run that covers the 130 miles with runners alternating the various legs that cover the distance. Richard and Marilyn are 4 year veterans of this run, while this will be Sara’s 2nd year to participate.

1911 Forums

Sara said, “This run has been a life changing experience for me; just being blessed with the ability to participate and the opportunity to make a difference in even one child’s life is more than enough motivation to cover the miles!” Last year she ran a total of 45 out of the 130 miles.

As a survivor of cancer himself, Richard has revved up his participation and support of this charity by going that extra mile. While he continues to be an advocate of the cause, this world renown pistolsmith pursued others within the firearms industry to donate many parts as well as time to build a commemorative 2010 St. Jude custom built 1911 pistol to be auctioned on gunbroker.com with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the kids!

This special pistol is built on a Springfield Armory 5” Government Model 45 ACP with the following custom alterations and parts:

Frame to slide fit
Kart barrel
Thick bushing w/Heinie logo spring plug
Heinie SlantPro sights
Top of slide flattened and serrated 40LPI
French border machined into slide
Bottom edge of slide beveled
Rear of slide serrated 40LPI
Ball cut radius on slide
Beavertail grip safety
Front strap checkered 20LPI
Flat mainspring housing checkered 20LPI
Beveled mag well
Heinie lightweight trigger
Single side extended thumb safety
Cylinder and slide hammer, sear and disconnector
Ajax ivory style grips
Scrimshaw engraved St. Jude logo on grips
Engraved hex head screws
Blue finish

This pistol was donated by Springfield Armory www.springfiled-armory.com
Grips Scrimshaw Engraved by Kurtz Miller, Eureka Springs, Arkansas
Slide machining and finish by MD Custom Machine www.mdcustommachine.com

This pistol will go up for auction on GUN BROKER on July 1, 2010.

ALL PROCEEDS GO TO ST. JUDE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL

Man, that's a sweet gun. Looks like St. Judes will be getting a nice check when that baby sells. Going to a good cause and someone is gonna have a really nice gun.

Beautiful pistol for an even better cause!! I have the utmost respect for any professional that donates their talent to help a worthy cause. Thumbs up for the whole Heinie operation and everybody else who worked on or contributed to this project! I hope this pistol fetches a ton of money...

Top to bottom that's just stunning. The grips really top it off too.

If bac and Quack won't bid, maybe I could afford it. "Bac n' Quack" what a pair! I love this forum. You guys are the best...generous with your time, words and...soon to be generous with your money. I know all of us lust for this gun and someone will get a real keeper. More importantly, the kids at St. Jude will benefit. It's a two-fer!!!

Very handsome, but would it have been too much trouble to polish the frame flats to match the slide like Colt used to do?

Guess that was not part of the build plan.
Personally,....I think that Springer is PERFECTION!

Obviously not part of the plan. I saw another high end gun finished the same way so it seems to be an accepted style. Also saw a gun with the slide engraved but not a mark on the receiver. That one looked even more unbalanced to my eye.

This would be as good a place as any to ask how I pronounce this name?

1.) Heeny
2.) Hiney?
