Caliber conversions for an SD gun

Mas,
What is your opinion on using caliber conversions for a SD/CCW pistol? I own a Glock 32 and plan to purchase a 9mm LWD conversion barrel for practice. I have considered using it for SD, as well, since I already have plenty of 9mm defensive ammo on hand. Assuming that reliability can be assured (through plenty of testing, of course), would I be opening myself up to any liability or other legal issues? Would it make a difference between an aftermarket barrel (such as the LWD 9mm one) or a factory barrel (such as a Glock .40S&W)?

Again, thank you in advance for taking the time to answer questions. I an hoping to get to attend one of your classes in the near future, as well.
