STI Legacy for sale on Gunbroker - Somebody grab it.

http://v2.gunbroker.com/Auction/View...Item=178092435

Guys, these don't come up very often. In fact, its the first one I've seen this year. I think I only saw one or two last year. STI discontinued them in 2008 for some crazy reason, but I feel its the best single stack they ever built. This one is NIB. It doesn't have the optional PVD finish, but the standard bluing is nice as well. At $1500, I think its a nice value and whoever gets it will have a unique 1911 indeed. STI only built them for a short period of time and not many at that.

Here's mine. This one does have the PVD finish, which covers everything, including the trigger, barrel, and bushing. While PVD is great, I honestly like the way the standard blued finish looks as well. With the bluing, the stainless and aluminum parts remain silver and give it a nice contrast, as seen on the one for sale. The smooth cocobolo grips, well done engaving, and lack of front serrations are a great combination. The Legacy has fully adjustable combat style sights.

The Legacy is a beautiful, high quality, great shooting 1911. Its also one you can be sure that your buddy won't have. In fact, probably nobody at your range will either.

Somebody jump on it. They rarely come up at all. This is the first NIB model I've seen since STI stopped building them.

Don't let this one pass you by. I'd like to see a GT member get it.

We need to get you a girlfriend brother. You spend waaaaaaaay to much time surfing Gunbroker. We need to channel that into match.com or eHarmony.

(that is a damn sexy gun though)

I do have a GF, just not a live in one.

I go on GB a few times per week, but only look up certain guns. The Legacy is one of them.

This auction is a few days old and this is the first time I saw it.

Jeff, I believe MSRP was $1640, with the PVD finish it was $1940.

As with other STIs, the Legacy didn't sell for much under retail. $1530 is a decent buy, especially since you can't get them anymore.

Buy it now for $1,550 seems pretty good then. How does that stack up to the competition in that $1,500-1,700 range?

I have no experience with the gun, but STI is a heck of a company. I truly feel the only other gun in the price range of the TRP that matches up is the Trojan as far as overall fit is concerned. I have owned some Kimbers and Colts that rivaled the TRP in cost, but truly not quality. I whole heartedly believe the TRP is the best production 1911 built, but STI's company is a close second.
I recently purchased a Spartan in 9mm which is basically a Phillipines made gun with STI guts. I could not believe the quality gun that i got for $609. The only downfalls of the Spartan for me were lack of FSC and a weak finish

I like it better than the offerings from Colt, Springfield, and Dan Wesson in that price range. They're all great 1911s too, but there's something cool about the Legacy.

I'd also take it over a $1500-$1600 Les Baer. I'm not saying the Legacy is a better pistol, because it isn't, but I tend to like the $2K and up Baers better.

I'd take the Legacy over anything Fusion builds also. I like my Fusion, but the Legacy is a better gun.

Its hard to tell in these pics, but the top of the slide is flattened and serrated in a diamond pattern, which is in very good taste. What you can clearly see in the pics is the nice French border around the slide. Again, very tastefully done. My RRA and Valtro also have a French borders.

I'll have to try to take another pic that shows the top serrations a little better.

If you like the Trojan that much, you would like the Legacy more.

The Legacy also has a forged frame, whereas the Trojan does not.

They're hard to come by too.

You see some models here and there, but the Limited Match was the best they built and they rarely come up for sale. Probably as infrequent as the Legacy, maybe even less.

Man, stuff like this comes by when I either don't have the money, or do have the money, but really can't spend it. I just bought that Model 29 and would have most likely bought the Legacy if it weren't for testerday's deal. Damnit! I've always wanted a Legacy too.

That sucks.

I wish I would have seen it yesterday.

I would have liked to seen you with a Legacy, Joe.

$1640 MSRP, I believe. $1940 with the PVD finish.

They didn't actually sell for much less than that. STIs stay very close to MSRP, if not right on it.

$1530-$1550 is a decent deal for NIB, especially since you can't get them anymore.

You really can't even get them used.

No, I can't do the frame or the trigger guard on those things.

I thought about getting the Journeyman before, but I don't like that the slide is so short.

I also looked at the Street Deuce, but the barrel is 5.2". I only buy 4 to 5" barreled 1911s.

http://www.olyarms.com/index.php?pag...mart&Itemid=37

Why Oympic can't build a standard 1911 with a standard frame, I'll never know. The Westerner is the only one they build with a 5" barrel and without the stupid finger groove frame. Of course, they ruined that one with the color cased finish.

http://www.olyarms.com/index.php?pag...mart&Itemid=37

Sorry, I won't be buying an Olympic/Safari Arms 1911 because none of them fit my criteria.
