Was looking for a nice .357 that was small enough to carry and large enough to comfortably shoot .38's out of at the range. Found a slightly used SP101 with a 3" barrel. I came with a Hogue Monogrip and professional trigger job for 4 bills. I am able to keep all double action shots inside the 9 ring at 25 yards with this package and it shoots .38's like a pop gun. 357's are another story (ouch), but I will save them for emergencies. All in all a very nice pistol...

Good on ya, Zut. I've got an SP101 with the 2.25-inch barrel that's been my companion for 15 years or so.

The SP101 in a 357 Magnum is a very good pistol, congrats on the purchase! You just need to practice more with the 357 Magnum load in it. Do you always practice at 25 Yards (just under 75')? Thats kind of far for a 3" barreled imo. I practice with my 2 1/4" barrel at 15' to 20 / 21' (around 5 to 7 yards). I find a 125gn Magnum round is pretty accurate out of it. Its not a nail driver but I'm getting 3" groupings at just under 7 yards, with the 2 1/4" barrel.

Way to go on your 101 deal. Mine is about a year old, a nice little gun but a bit heavy to carry.

I miss mine, had an early production mdl. at the time Ruger took the .38 mdl. and chambered the cyl. for .357 but only 125gr. bullets or less great gun but you better wear ear protection with the .357 loads!

Sounds like a good deal. Ruger revolvers are built very well.

Congrats on the SP-101! Their great shooters and if you run out of ammo, you'll have yourself a nice shinny club.

Speed kills, rocks maim!

I just got my SP101 2 1/4" a couple of days ago and already shoot it better than I did with my old Smith Airweight- 38 and 357.

They are shooters, mine tied with the kimber 1911 @ 25yrds the other day shooting 158gr sp's DA. The top targets were 10yrds, fast DA.

Good find Zut.

I picked up a used one about 2yrs ago for about $370. Mine is the 2", .357 Magnum (with hammer). Had a Hogue rubber grip on it when I got it. I love it.

I usually leave it in the nightstand for the missus but right now it's handling protective services for my baby sister (crazy ex-beau problems).

i have a 3" er also. 38s are a breeze and even magnums arent bad at all considering the size of the gun. the weight helps quite a bit.

im pondering the MagNa-Porting job like i had on one of my S&W 640s, and the addition of a big dot night site on the front....if money only grew on trees....
