Wolff recoil spring installation

Stupid question: when installing a Wolff glock recoil spring, which way does it go on the guide rod? The spring has one end which is tapered a little and it didn't come with instructions?

Install the tapered part of the spring first so it is resting on the part of the GR that rests on the barrel lug.
