GeG, I liked those features too. The round worked very well in actual shootings, but not really any better than more conventional JHP 9mm produced today, such as 115 grain or 127 grain +P+. As you noted, its big advantage was feeding in older style mil-spec 9mm pistols that weren't reliable with wide-mouth 9mm JHP, and in open bolt 9mm submachine guns.
I don't know of any source for it in the US anymore. You might try starting a thread on the topic in Caliber Corner.
