I don't know if I can post this here. But I'm planning to come down to a beach in either North or South Carolina for a couple of days. I want to bring my son who has never been down South or to the ocean. Can anyone suggest somewhere on the ocean that's not a tourist trap. I'd appreciate it. Thanks guys.
I live in Summerville near Charleston. I don't want to ruin a good thing but I'll make an exception in your case. Folly Beach is the best beach in the Carolina's. I'm a native and ba 'beach person' I been every where from the Outer Banks to Jacksonville Fla. and Folly wins hands down. Just don't tell anybody or you'll ruin it for everyone!
If he's old enough to grasp the historical value the outer banks where the Wright brothers did their thing is not only amazing but fun with the dunes to play on. The Wright brothers museum is well worth the trip. There are several beaches nearby to wear him out on also.
Yep I think I'm going with the suggestion. I was at Ft. Jackson in Columbia, and was at Ft. Bragg briefly. I never made it to the ocean. Man I love North and South Carolina.
Folly Beach gives you Charleston and a lot of options other than the beach.
Myrtle Beach isn't too bad with 60 miles of beaches and some decent less populated hideouts. The tourists have stopped there trek and it's slowing down a bit.
