I am trying to determine which model to purchase for LE general patrol and SWAT use. My dept issues Sig P220's but I shoot the Glock MUCH better. I have not had a chance to shoot the G35, but I have recently consistenly hit bowling bins with a G23 and G22 at 100 yds. The other factor is being that my dept issue is a .45, possibly I'll have to choose the G21. Any advice would be helpful.
Most departments do not allow you to choose your weapon. If you have the right of choice I would spend a little time at the local range and try them all out for size.
BTW: I know several LEO carrying the G35!
Thanks. Yes, you're right about not carrying different weapons on a PD which is why I never approached the topic until our Chief made a comment the other day that he is considering it. I submitted the letter to him and am waiting. More than likely it will have to be the G21 or G21SF to stay .45
I was granted permission, along with one other SWAT teammate, to carry a different pistol. Based on holster availability and previous success, I chose the Glock 22 Gen 4 and put diamond speed sights on it. I am very pleased and ready to shoot. My next mission is to determine the best .40 call duty ammo. I'm considering Federal HST bonded or Winchester "T" series.
