I patterned a Winchester #1 buck against the TAP 00 buck from 20 feet with my 12 gauge last weekend. I thought the 00 buck was too "aggressive" at home defense distances; this round blew a hole in the target backstop 2-3 inches across. However, the #1 buck blew a pattern 6-8 inches across with it's 16 pellets. I felt the #1 buck pattern would be reasonably adequate to stop the offender, while the 00 buck pattern looked like a slug passed through the target.
Any thought as to whom a consumer could register a suggestion to manufacture a low recoil #1 buck?
