I just bought my 91/30 a baby brother. A friend had a M44 that has had corrosive ammo fired in it without cleaning, and the bayo is missing (he took it off for weight reasons). He sold it to me for 50 bucks and a bottle of whiskey (Johnnie Walker red lable). after cleaning the barrel seems ok, the rifling took a beating and I don't expect great groups.
My question is should I hunt a bayo down or remove the bayo lug. And what is the process of removing the bayo lug.

I'd find a bayo.

Well after two days of no opinions i figured yall didn't care so I started yesterday on the removal and am now sanding the barrel clean before I refinish it. Overall it looks great.
