New EMF Hartford 1911 :)
The EMF Hartford 1911 came on to the market recently and I decided to pick one up and report back. As you can see, mine is serial number 66. This is one of the least expensive American built models on the market at about $550 and built by DGC Custom Gunsmithing in Tennessee. The finish is different and called "as issued", giving the gun a somewhat worn look to it. I'm honestly not sure whether I like it or not, but I'll give them kudos for trying something different. The grips are decent and look along the lines of the grips on the Remington R1, albeit not quite as nice. Impressively, there is virtually no slide to frame movement. Its a tightly fit 1911 in that aspect, but parts fitting feels a bit questionable. I'll see how it performs. 
I was going to wait until November or December to pick this up, but I wanted to get it, shoot it this weekend, and include it in my 1911 guide next week. This will be my last 1911 of 2010 and quite possibly my last firearm this year, as I went WAY over budget already.

Interesting model there Bac.. If you ever feel the need to replace that MSH.. I would be very interested in that arched that is on it..

What is with SS bushings on blue guns lately?
Never seen a wheelabrater used to finish a firearm before. Original.

Is that a casting flaw in the trigger relief scallop on the mag release side?
That gun looks like crap.

The finish actually sparkles under light. You can see a little bit of that from the camera flash.

I thought it had more of a glitter look to it. Kinda like one of the prop guns off of GLEE...

It's really incongruous if they're going for something that looks like a USGI model that's seen a bit of hard use.
