$28.17.

It's not going back into the $30s right now but on the other hand it's refusing to fall into the low $20s either.

Still hovering around $28. What will QE3 and a Romney win do to PM prices?

Romney isn't likely to win. Nobody really likes him and a lot of liberals still like Obama so it'll be party loyalists against each other and a group who can't justify voting for either pile of crap.

Either way, nothing of significance will really differ and we'll continue to spend money we don't have like a drunken sailor. We'll start more wars without Congress and use more drones. I'll wager that PM's will go way up once the election is over and fiscal reality comes in. Republicans are every bit as bad as Democrats when it comes to acting responsibly.

A what-if that won't matter.

Not a problem for folks in this Forum. Silver and Gold is for Preps, not an investment to make short term money. At least for me, that is.

Buying at $28 is still a good future idea.

Nobody likes Obama either.

Romney could still blow it but it's his to lose.

Ha! And I just cashed in 1/3 of my Silver for a personal SHTF recently. If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all.

So what will be more valuable within the next year??.....

$700 worth of Silver bought today

or

$700 worth of AR-15 bought today

Or $700 worth of a diversified portfolio of risky assets bought today.

Or $700 wroth of cash held or put in a savings account bought today.

The two above could easily be worth more in a year than the silver or the AR.

Interesting...

You started this thread Oct 2010...

In the 1200+ posts in this thread people gave advice to you...

You purchased silver near it's high since this thread began...

And sold it relatively low for a loss???

Maybe you are your own bad luck??? Maybe you cause your own personal SHTF???

A small percentage of the populace actually learn from their own experiences.

An even smaller percentage can and do learn from the experiences of others.

Then there's the rest . . . just look at most politicians. They keep trying to solve the same old problems the same old ways that they always have and never see that it didn't work in the past, isn't working in the present and won't work in the future no matter how much they want it to.

And . . .

A small percentage of people can think.

A small percentage think that they think.

Most would rather die than think.

That answer your questions BR549?

I'm not concerned about the price of silver. If I didn't have other things going on, I'd probably buy some more.

BTW: I bought in the 18-21 dollar range.

Tangibles, food, water, filters, TP, guns and ammo, gold and silver, medicine, etc. One of Ferfal's big regrets is that he didn't think of gold or silver when Argentina's currency went toes up.

I am still a buyer here.

Good Luck

$700 would buy one share of Apple. If it's not at least 10% higher a year from now I would be surprised.

Cat, I'm not making fun of you here, but in reply:

Uh, no you didn't answer the questions.

The answers you gave were wrong anyway.

But what if ____, ___, and ______?

And I'm going to change the questions and your answers to help my argument.

And then I'll steer the thread into some other direction such as aliens, concealed carry of knives on a honeymoon, or EMP-proof motorcycles......

You really have no idea what I'm talking about do you?

Do you think my chili is too tomato-ey?

Sorry BR, I thought I was telling you, that in my tiny little mind EMT fits into the catagories that I listed, thus explaining his actions. I don't mean to attack the poor guy, but if you read this whole thread you'll see exactly the problem you've posed.

He asks for advice, is given lots, mostly excellent too. There are several guys here that really know their stuff (far more than I) especially when it comes to money, finances and PMs. I've learned alot from them.

But from reading his responses you can see that he hasn't learned a thing except the world is difficult and just dang unfair to him! Whaaaaaaa!

And yes, I think that your chili is too tomatoie. Can't say squat about aliens though, sorry.

$30.24. Interesting. I'm not sure why the sudden 10% run up.

Want to know why silver won't get down to the low $20's - you only need to look at ebay.

For the record, I'm not saying Ebay is the end all be all of commodities exchange prices however I feel its an adequate measure of the "feeling out there." As many know, and I preach, the market is no longer driven by financials but fear. Sure its been this way for a long time - but metal prices are just fun to watch.

Try this experiement - I have for the past 2-3 months.

Go to Ebay, if you don't have an account create one.

Create a watch list of auction only junk silver items up for sale - concentrate on dimes and quarters.

Watch what they sell for...

I recently watched a lot of 28 rolls of quarters, dimes and silver dollars which should have sold in the $5100-$5700 range based on its silver content.

It sold at $6400. Nothing...and I mean nothing is selling even close to spot price. Every once in a while you will see something sell 1-3% over spot...but very frequently its closer to 8-10%. Then you add shipping. There are guys on there selling single silver dimes "with free shipping" at $3.99 a piece (based on silver's close today they are worth closer to to $2.20) - and they are selling?

Rolls of silver quarters frequently sell at 10% over spot plus shipping.

As for your AR-15, silver, cash or stocks scenario - a year is too short. Obama wins in November, you "could" see AR prices double.

Give it 5 years then ask which worth more.

Junk silver has been going on Ebay for 5-10% over spot (especially when factoring in shipping) for awhile now. It's still not such a bad deal though when you consider the premium charged for American Eagles and such.

Correct. So, when considering how its value will change over time, you can't just say "it's going for over spot now, therefore it's value will increase more rapidly than other investments".

But it is worth noting that silver is selling above spot.
