so i'm in Kentucky...

and see a sign...

Click the image to open in full size.

so i follow the sign by turning left and going down the road for 15 miles.
the destination is Smokin' Guns/JetGuns.com (formerly Bud's in Paris, KY)

Click the image to open in full size.

they had the usual production 1911's, but i did see a TGO-1 #152 which would be a recently built gun. they also had a TGO-3 there. I didn't see anything that i wanted to spend some money on, so i travel 17.3 miles to:

they had a lot of Nighthawk's, a few Wilson's, a Baer and then the usual production guns. I did get to fondle the "1 of 100" Nighthawk Knights Armament 1911. those golf ball dimples don't provide enough grip. and for ~$7800 for the set makes me want to puke. They STILL have that TGO-2 that has been around for months now. They also had the billion Para's too.
THe Doublestar non-rail 1911 wsa odd, it looks like they just milled the rail off the gun because the dust cover still has the same slant to it. it felt well built for an $1100 gun.

They had a Custom Carry Baer there on consignment for ~$1300. I fondled it, but there's something that i don't like about the Baer. I should note that there was a HUGE gap between the rear sight and slide. i've seen small gaps before on other guns, but i thought that it should have been fit better.

so for once i'm probably going to leave Kentucky w/o buying a gun...but i'll be down here all week and might stop by http://www.whittakerguns.com/ so i may be in trouble

I go out to whitts all the time!! I love stopping in there and checking out what they have. I pass through that way when I go to work. I'm not sure what you're doing in KY but buds is about 4.5 hours away from whitts. You'll get to see the biggest gun dealer I've ever seen, so that alone is worth the drive!!! When I say gun dealer I mean the guy that owns it!!!

I live in Kentucky, and I've never been to any of those places. I've gotta check them out next time I'm up in the Lexington area.

Quack you can always come up to Cinci on your way back and let me shoot your expensive 1911's. The only 1911 I've shot is a loaded.

Unfortunately, there aren't any big gun stores around here, at least that I know of.

which shops do you go to, i know that there is Target World (expensive), and then another shop that is i think in Loveland.

you need to take a drive up to Vance's in Cbus.

Whitts is about two hours from Louisville. That's not that bad of a trip. If you don't mind me asking what are you doing driving around KY?

You should check out knobs creek while you're in Louisville. I heard they had some pretty good stuff but I can't confirm that because I've never been.

Knob Creek does the machine gun shoot every year, but that's already past. Target World and Peterson's (Sharonville) are the closest gun stores, however both are extremely overpriced. There are a few more small gun stores around, but those too, are quite expensive. Other than that, just Bass Pro and Dicks. Not much choice here.

You know the street view in Google maps? There's vehicles that drive around to capture those images...I don't do that.

nothing really good in Cleveland unless you drive over an hour.

I'm not sure if there's google maps or not but I can take pics of the signs and streets you need to go on. Just let me know which way you're coming from Louisville and I can get you there

Before leaving on the road, I know he carries a few large black canvas bags and put them in his trunk.
