Glock 39 extended slide stop

Has anyone changed their slide stop to a standard one? Does it take a special part made for the G39 or will any Glock standard slide stop work?

The GAP slide stop lever is specific to that caliber...the tab that the magazine follower engages is smaller to account for the larger case as opposed to 9/.40 cases.

However, I have a buddy that uses the standard slide release for the 9/.40 on his GAP and doesn't have any problems.

I suppose if you really wanted to match the tab on the GAP slide release, you could file down the tab on a standard lever to match.

I put the standard lever on both my G37 and G39 with no modification needed.

I have a different question, Why do you not like that little goober? I love having it on my gaps.

The thumb on my weak side hand keeps hitting it and causing the slide to lock back with a round in the chamber. Am I doing something wrong?

Melissa,

I also shoot a lot of 1911's, which requires a slightly different grip to keep from getting your strong side thumb under the safety and thumbing the "Thumb" safety on. (Way too many thumbs today).

That said, when I shoot, I place my weak hand thumb over the strong side thumb. This does two things, One, it keeps my strong thumb down and away from the 1911 thumb safety and when shooting a Glock, it keeps my weak hand thumb away from the slide lock. I will try and send some pictures.

fasteddie,

I know what you are talking about. I started out shooting with that grip and just recently changed to both thumbs forward. Guess I'll have to change back to the other grip.

Tiger Woods has changed his stroke 5 times in the last 7 years. (Golf Stroke that is....)
