TRP vs Used Wilson

Hi all......... it's me again!

I have an urge for a stainless 1911, along with the urge for a double stack. I have been looking around Gunbroker at the TRPs. I just started looking around at the Wilson's.

If you were going to buy a "high end" production gun and didn't want to wait with a budget of around $1500 to 2k, which would you get. Something new or something someone molested wore the new off of and didn't really like it.

A used Wilson for the price of a new TRP is a pretty good deal. Unless the Wilson has been drug down a gravel road behind a truck. But, then again, that would give you a good reason to get it hardchromed.

I just been looking on Gun Broker at TRPs and started on Wilson's this evening. The new ones on GB are pushing 3k.

There's no comparison in quality.

It just depends on the price and condition of the Wilson.

If you can snag a Wilson for $1400 highly recommend it. I was able to snag a alongside for that

Big plus one for the Wilson. I'd go Wilson every day of the week over a regular production weapon, even one as nice as the TRP.

Yes. Pretend those awful double stacks never existed!!! Save up til you have the 1911 you REALLY want, or you'll be left wanting with what you have. Double stacking is best left to polymer. The only problem is that Wilsons hold their value so well (almost too well) that your probably better off buying a brand new one and getting it exactly how you want it, rather than how someone else wanted it.

Definately the Wilson, don't care how used it is.

I'm gonna say you've never owned a double stack Wilson. There's no 9mm production polymer gun that even comes close to my KZ-9.

So as not to start another thread I will ask it here...

Anyone ever seen a CQB full size in Stainless? Not just made from stainless but the color too.

Im gonna say your right. Im also gonna say that I am more of a purist (in my eyes) when it comes to 1911s Id rather have a single stack.

Topgunsupply had a stainless CQB Compact in the case that I fondled a few months ago. It gave me a chubby.

I got a PM from wilson on another board and was pointed to a pic of the Protector........ said it looked the same just different roll marks.

I am really really thinking about making a major life choice..... say with my Glock for EDC or get a Wilson tricked out how I want it.

Gotcha, I guess I'm more interested in the actual shooting aspect of 1911s opposed to percieved labels.

Wilson beats TRP (as much as I love my TRP)....but I would not recomend buying used guns on gunbroker. If they aint NIB, you need to see them in person. Been there done that!! Wound up with a hell of a kitchen table gunsmithing job to clean up (and pay for).
